CAT 2026 Registration Process: Step-by-Step Guide, Fees & Last Date

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2026 is the entrance exam that is a gateway to some of the renowned Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and many other top B-schools in India. Organized by the IIM Indore, CAT 2026 is scheduled to be held on 29 November 2026. The online registration process for CAT 2026 is now available at its official website iimcat.ac.in.

Important Dates

• Start Date for Registration: 3 August 2026 (10:00 AM)
• Last Date for Registration: 15 September 2026 (5:00 PM)
• Release of Admit Card: From 4 November 2026 onwards
• Date of Examination: 29 November 2026 (Sunday)
• Declaration of Results: First week of January 2027 (expected)

The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid online:

Step-by-Step Registration Process

Step 1: Accessing the Official Website

Visit http://www.iimcat.ac.in and select "New Candidate Registration".

Step 2: Generating Login Details

Provide Name (exactly as mentioned on the Class 10 Certificate), Date of Birth, Email ID, and Phone Number. Verify Email ID and Mobile Number via the One Time Password (OTP) generated from the system. This would generate a unique Username and password which will be sent to your Registered Email Address.

Step 3: Logging in and Filling the Form

• Login using these login details. The application form consists of the following parts:
• Personal Details
• Academic Qualification (10th, 12th, Graduate)
• Work Experience (if any)
• Preferences for Programmes
• Preferences for Test Cities (upto 5 cities in order of preference)

Step 4: Uploading the Required Documents

• Upload the following documents in the prescribed format and size:
• A recent passport size photograph (white background)
• Signature scan
• Category Certificate (if applicable)

Step 5: Preview Form and Pay Fee

Review the complete form thoroughly. Make the required changes, if any, and move to the fee payment step. After making a successful payment, you will get a confirmation page.

Step 6: Save the Confirmation Page

Take a print out and save the confirmation page as well as the payment receipt for future reference. List of Documents

• Mark sheets/Certificate for graduation (or final year Mark Sheet)
• Passport sized photograph
• Signature
• Category Certificate, if any
• Proof of Photo ID

Important Tips

• Use a stable internet connection and preferably a laptop/desktop.
• Prepare all the documents prior to registration.
• Recheck your personal information such as name, date of birth, and category.
• Register as early as possible to choose your own test city.
• Fee paid is non-refundable in any situation.
