Armed Forces Medical College Pune has a completely different admission route from civilian medical colleges.

It is only for those willing to serve as commissioned officers in the Indian Armed Forces Medical Services.

No management/NRI seats, no state counselling, pure merit + military screening. The process for 2026 cycle (based on NEET-UG 2026) is as follows:

MBBS: Qualify NEET-UG 2026 conducted by NTA

  1. After NEET result (usually June), register online using your NEET roll number and details (exact dates notified after NEET).

  2. AFMC releases shortlist based on NEET score.

  3. Shortlisted candidates report to AFMC Pune in batches for full screening:

  4. Final merit list (NEET weightage highest + ToELR + Interview) published.

  5. Selected candidates report for admission, pay fees, sign 7-year service bond (₹69 lakh penalty if broken), parents/guardians also sign, and join. Commissioned as Lieutenant after an internship.

Armed Forces Medical College – Scholarship & Eligibility Criteria (15 Points)

  • AFMC doesn’t offer conventional civilian scholarships; financial support is built into service training and allowances.

  • Tuition fee is fully subsidised for all admitted MBBS cadets as part of the defence training program.

  • Students receive free/reduced cost hostel accommodation and subsidised messing (food) facilities.

  • Monthly stipends/allowances are provided automatically once enrolled as a cadet (no separate scholarship form).

  • Internship and service period stipends are part of the defence pay structure after training.

  • To be eligible for this financial support, candidates must qualify for NEET-UG and secure admission through AFMC’s selection (ToELR, interview, and medical exam).

  • Indian citizenship is mandatory for admission and for linked financial aid.
