Admission to BIT Kolkata is entrance-based, and candidates must qualify either through the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) or the national-level JEE Main exam. In addition to qualifying the entrance test, applicants must have completed their 10+2 education with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one from Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, or Computer Application.
Also, The minimum eligibility criteria include securing at least 45% marks in the qualifying exam for General category candidates and 40% for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped students. Cutoff ranks for the previous year ranged between 74,437 and 1,09,099 for WBJEE.
Additionally, application process is conducted entirely online. After the entrance test results are declared, eligible candidates must register on the official BIT website and participate in the counselling process. Selection is merit-based, and the final admission is confirmed after document verification and payment of the course fee, which is approximately INR 3,47,000 for the entire B.Tech program.
