Internship and placement at MES Medical College: Recent data shows median salary for UG (MBBS) graduates who take up jobs is around INR 7 to 10 LPA. For PG (MD/MS) courses, it is higher, around INR 15 to 20 LPA. A good number of students prefer higher studies over immediate jobs. The attached hospital often helps by absorbing some interns and residents internally.

Internship: Every MBBS student must do one year of Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI) right after the final year exams. This internship happens entirely at the attached MES hospital. Students rotate through all major departments like Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Community Medicine and others. The college provides free hostel accommodation during this period.

For the academic year 2025-26, the college pays interns around INR 16,000 per month as a stipend (in addition to the state government component of INR 27,300). Placement: This is a medical college, so there is no traditional campus placement like in engineering colleges. Most MBBS graduates do not get “placed” through companies. After completing the internship, options for fresh graduates are:

• Appear for NEET-PG and go for MD/MS specialisation.

• Work in other private hospitals in Kerala or elsewhere.

• Prepare for government jobs or service in rural areas as per Kerala government norms.

Scholarships and fee concessions at MES Medical College: The college offers limited merit-cum-need based help and some fee reductions for economically weak students, but full tuition waivers are rare and given only to a very few selected cases.
