MIT School of Management- MITSOM Placement Overview

The placement cell at MITSOM is quite active and organised; they call it CIAP (Centre for Industry-Academia Partnerships). They start training from the first semester aptitude tests every week, resume workshops, LinkedIn profile reviews, mock GDs/PIs, guest lectures, alumni talks, and sector-specific prep sessions (especially for finance, marketing, consulting, and analytics roles).

Placement rate is decent: 75–85% for those who are serious (CGPA 7.0+, good communication, active in clubs/events). If you’re average academically or have poor English/communication, you might struggle — many students in that category end up with very basic offers or go off-campus.

Top companies that regularly come:

  • Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC (consulting & audit)
  • Accenture, Capgemini, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant (IT consulting & operations)
  • HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak (relationship manager & banking sales)
  • Amazon, Flipkart, Reliance Retail (operations & supply chain)
  • ITC, Nestle, Asian Paints, Godrej (sales & marketing)
  • PhonePe, Paytm, Bajaj Finserv (fintech & finance roles)

Most common roles: Business Analyst, Relationship Manager, Sales & Business Development, Operations Executive, HR Associate, Marketing Executive. Very few pure finance/strategy roles unless you have strong academics + internships.

Internships: Summer internship (after 1st year) is mandatory, and the cell pushes hard for good companies.

  • Duration: 8–10 weeks
  • Stipend: INR 8,000 to INR 35,000/month, average INR 12,000–20,000 higher in consulting/banking/fintech.
  • Conversion to PPO: 25 to 40% (better if you perform well and the company has a budget)

Real student-level picture

  • Students have 80+ percentile in CAT/CMAT + good communication + decent CGPA (7.5+). Applicants can realistically aim for INR 8–12 LPA roles (consulting/banking/fintech).
  • If average (60–70 percentile, okay academics, average English), expect 4.5–6.5 LPA in sales/operations/BPO/IT support roles.
  • The cell is helpful but not magical; they bring companies, but your performance in GD/PI + internship matters a lot.
  • Pune's location helps many companies prefer local students for sales/operations roles.
