The Association of Indian Universities- AIU is an agency body that recognizes degrees and diplomas awarded by Indian universities, and provides equivalence certificates for foreign qualifications. 

AIU approval is important for a number of reasons, including: 
Higher studies
AIU approval allows students to pursue higher degree courses in Indian universities. 
Employment
AIU approval is recognized by the Central Government of India for employment purposes. 
PGDM programs
AIU approval certifies that a PGDM program is equivalent to a post-graduate management degree. This allows students to apply for government jobs or other positions that require a master's degree.
