As a St Mary’s student, students will be offered various opportunities to develop their employability skills and engage in workplace learning through programmes.  For the majority, this will include the opportunity to undertake a specific accredited Work Placement Module at Level 5 and Level 6 run by the dedicated Employability Services team.  

The specific work placement modules delivered by the Employability Services team provide students with the opportunity to undertake 50 hours of work placement in an organisation of students’ choice. Placement hours are worked throughout the semester alongside attendance at weekly lectures.

All work placement modules use active learning techniques with students also taking part in creative challenges, working on virtual scenarios or case studies, undertaking psychometric testing and working in teams on challenging tasks.  Furthermore, these modules are accredited and count towards final degree and offer a unique opportunity to use students’ university time to enhance their CV, develop employability skills and simultaneously apply their academic learning in a real-world setting.  

Saint Mary's University is committed to ensuring your success by providing scholarships, bursaries and awards totalling $15.7 million each year to students. In accordance with St Mary’s regulations, students can only receive one bursary or scholarship (with the exception of students awarded the St Mary's Cares Bursary). Applicants who are assessed as eligible for more than one scholarship should reject one of their awards. Alternatively, student records will be adjusted at the enrolment stage.
