WMU does not follow a traditional campus placement system. It emphasises rigorous clinical training across its 5 affiliated Grade-A tertiary hospitals and additional teaching hospitals. Graduates gain strong practical skills and are well-prepared for licensing exams. Most international alumni (especially from India and South Asia) return home, clear exams like FMGE/NEXT, pursue PG studies, or practice medicine. The degree is WHO-recognised, supporting global career opportunities after meeting local licensing requirements. Strong alumni network aids mentoring and career support.

WMU offers a range of scholarships for international students, including those in the MBBS program. Scholarships are competitive, primarily merit-based (academic performance, entrance results, and overall profile), and renewable subject to annual evaluation. 

Some of these scholarships include:

• Freshman Entrance Scholarship: 20,000 RMB (25% of students), 10,000 RMB (25%), or 5,000 RMB (50%).

• Academic Scholarship (University): 5,000 RMB (top 2%), 2,000 RMB (5%), 1,000 RMB (10%).

• Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship: Up to 20,000 RMB.

• Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC): Full or partial coverage (tuition, accommodation, stipend, insurance) — applied via university.

Scholarships are merit-based. Freshmen pay full fees first, then receive awards after registration and assessment. Renewals depend on academic performance.
