The institute has a dedicated placement cell which is referred to as Career Development Cell (CDC). CDC aims to assist the students in interacting with like minds, boost their confidence and serves as an interface between students and employers. It provides a favourable environment for professional development of the students by providing them with the best of internship opportunities, skill-development sessions and placement opportunities. The cell organizes skill development sessions, workshops, pre-placement talks, and recruitment drives. The Institute also exposes its students to the 'law in action' through compulsory internships with Hon'ble Judges of Supreme Court, Punjab and Haryana High Court, eminent lawyers, legal firms, various commissions and NGOs, etc. 

CDC was established for expanding the outreach of the Institute by monetizing on the vibrant potential of its students. It works effortlessly towards building connections with professional experts and fostering existing connections within the legal fraternity to meet the diverse aspirations of the students. CDC makes engage students with corporate firms, litigation, NGOs, Civil Society organizations. In addition to this, CDC also aids students with LLM and academia. Compulsory internships are a key feature, placing students with Supreme Court and High Court judges, eminent lawyers, legal firms, commissions, and NGOs.

CDC's functions include:

• Organizing guest lectures and workshops for career and personality development
• Organizing placement drives for final year students
• Assisting students in obtaining scholarships and fellowships.

University Institute of Legal Studies’ students are eligible for a wide range of university-level and government scholarships. There are no department specific scholarships designed specifically for UILS but the institute assists students in applying for scholarships and financial aid through its cell and the central university scholarship system. 

Scholarships which are offered by the UILS are primarily merit-based, need based, category based, or for specific groups. To have these benefits, candidates are required to fulfill general criteria. They should have good academic record, family income limits, and category certificates wherever applicable.
