About Assam Engineering College Scholarships

AEC offer many institute-specific scholarships, facilitates and supports students in availing various government and national schemes for financial aid. These are mainly for economically weaker sections, reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/Minority), merit-based, and Northeast-focused students. Applications are usually made through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) or state portals. 

 

Key scholarships available/applicable to AEC students:

Ishan Uday - Special Scholarship Scheme for the North Eastern Region for students from Northeast states pursuing higher education. 

  • Amount: Up to INR 80,000 per year INR 5,400/month for general degree + INR 7,800/month for technical/professional courses like B.Tech). 
  • Eligibility: Family income INR 4.5 lakh/year, first-year UG admission, domicile of NE state. Apply via NSP.

 

NEC Scholarship (North Eastern Council): For students from NE region in technical/professional courses. 

  • Amount: Around INR 13,000–30,000 per annum (varies by course/year). 
  • Eligibility: Domicile of NE states, merit and income criteria. Apply through NEC portal or NSP.

 

Post-Matric Scholarships (for SC/ST/OBC/Minority): Government of Assam/central schemes. Covers tuition, maintenance allowance, books, etc. 

  • Amounts vary ( full fee waiver + stipend for SC/ST). 
  • Eligibility: Category certificate, income limits INR 2.5 lakh for OBC. Apply via NSP or Assam state portal.

 

Combined Merit Scholarship (Directorate of Higher Education, Assam): Merit-based for degree/PG students in recognized institutions. 

  • Amount: INR 150–300 per month (or as revised). 
  • Eligibility: High marks in qualifying exam.

 

Poor Fund Scholarship: Need-based aid from college for low-income students facing hardship. Limited funds; apply through college student welfare branch with proof of income/academic records.

 

Other schemes: Pragati for girls in technical education, Saksham for the specially-abled, Swanath (for orphans), ADF, Reliance Foundation UG Scholarship (up to INR 2 lakh total), and state merit scholarships. AICTE encourages use of these.

 

How to apply:

  • Register on National Scholarship Portal for most central/state schemes.
  • Submit documents: Income certificate, caste/domicile proof, admission letter, marksheets, bank details.
