Commonly Asked Questions

Yes, it is a very good choice, especially for students from Bihar and eastern India. It offers excellent faculty, low fees, good infrastructure, and the prestigious AIIMS tag. While older AIIMS have higher patient load and slightly better rankings, Patna provides a balanced environment with strong future prospects.

The hospital has a decent patient load with around 1,600+ OPD patients daily. Students get good clinical exposure to common as well as complex cases, which helps build strong practical skills.

Interns receive a monthly stipend of approximately INR 23,000 to INR 30,000, which is standard for AIIMS. The internship provides solid hands-on training in the teaching hospital.

The campus is secure with 24x7 security and anti-ragging measures. It is considered safe for girls. The surrounding area is developing, but students mostly stay within the campus. Proper precautions are advised when going out.

Undergraduate students can participate in ICMR projects, short-term research under faculty guidance, and publish papers. The institute encourages research, especially in community medicine and clinical departments.

It is challenging but manageable. The academic schedule is demanding, but seniors and faculty provide guidance. Many students manage to prepare alongside regular studies and secure good PG seats.

Campus life is vibrant with annual cultural fest, sports events (ZAGON), student clubs, and various competitions. There are good sports facilities including grounds, gym, and indoor games. Students balance studies and fun well.

Yes. Students can avail Central Sector Scholarship, Post-Matric Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC/EWS, National Scholarship Portal schemes, and state government scholarships. Many reserved category students get full or partial fee waivers and stipends.

The 134-acre campus has modern lecture halls, well-equipped labs, a central library open 24x7, skill labs, and sports facilities. Wi-Fi covers the entire campus. Infrastructure is good and continues to improve.

Faculty members are well-qualified and experienced, with many having trained from reputed institutions. Teaching is generally good, though being a newer institute, some departments are still strengthening. Student-faculty ratio is favourable for an AIIMS.

Almost all graduates get placed. The median package for MBBS students is around INR 12.36 – 14.26 LPA as per recent NIRF data. Most students either clear INI-CET for PG in AIIMS or join government services. The AIIMS tag carries good value.

AIIMS Patna is ranked 27th in the Medical category in NIRF 2025. It performs well among the newer AIIMS but stands behind AIIMS Bhubaneswar (14th) and some others. It is still considered a solid choice in eastern India.

The total academic + hostel fees for the entire 5.5-year MBBS course is very low — around INR 5,856 to INR 10,000. Mess charges are separate and cost approximately INR 4,000–INR 5,000 per month. It is one of the most affordable top government medical colleges.

Most MBBS students get single occupancy rooms from the first year itself. Hostels are well-maintained with 24x7 Wi-Fi, lifts, mess, TV rooms, and basic furniture. Mess food is decent and hygienic, though many students prefer eating out occasionally. Separate hostels for boys and girls.

The course follows the standard AIIMS pattern with a strong emphasis on early clinical exposure. Students get hands-on training from the third year onwards in a 960-bed teaching hospital that sees a high patient load, giving good practical experience across departments.

In NEET 2025, the closing rank for AIIMS Patna was around 1537 for the General category in the final rounds, 2132 for OBC, 3028 for EWS, 17167 for SC, and 30313 for ST. Cutoffs have been rising gradually as the institute’s reputation grows, but it remains relatively accessible compared to older AIIMS.
