IIT Madras Chennai Admission 2026: Process, Eligibility & Selection Criteria

IIT Madras offers various UG, PG, and Doctoral programs, which include top programs such as B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, and PhD. The admission at this Institute is mainly based on the qualification of national-level entrance exams. Moreover, the seats are reserved based on the categories of admission. Eligibility criteria for the top programmes:-

• B.Tech: applicants must have passed the 12th board with physics, chemistry, and mathematics with 75%. Furthermore, students must qualify for the JEE Advanced exam.
• M.Tech: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in BE/BTech/BArch or a master’s degree in Science/Arts with 60% marks. Furthermore, students must qualify for the GATE exam with valid scores.
• MBA: Applicants must have 60% marks in a bachelor’s degree. Furthermore, students must clear the CAT examination.
• PhD: Applicants must have 55% in a master’s degree and 60% in a bachelor’s degree. Furthermore, students must qualify for GATE/CSIR NET-JRF/UGC NET-JRF.

Admission process 2026:-

• Applicants have to register and appear for the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams for B.Tech admission.
• Similarly, applicants must apply for GATE if they apply for the M.Tech/M.A. program, which is followed by COAP Counselling.
• For some M.A. programs, applicants must qualify for the IIT JAM with valid scores.
• Applicants will be eligible for admission if they qualify exam with a relevant rank.
• Applicants must participate in the JoSAA Counselling for seat allocation.
• Applicants must verify documents and pay the admission fee to confirm a seat.
