IIT Roorkee Admission 2026: Process, Eligibility & Selection Criteria

IIT Roorkee is mainly entrance-based for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions. The major programmes offered by the Institute are B.Tech, MBA, MSc, Dual Degree, B.Arch, M.Tech, and more. Students must qualify for the eligible national-level entrance exam with valid scores before registering on the admission portal of the Institute. Find the eligibility criteria for the major programs and the selection process for the admission 2026 below:-

Eligibility Criteria for Major Programmes:-

• B.Tech - Applicants must have cleared 12th board with physics, chemistry, and mathematics as the mandatory subjects with a 75% percentile. Applicants must qualify for the JEE Advanced exam with the required scores.
• M.Tech - Applicants must have cleared a graduation in a relevant engineering degree with 60% percentile. Applicants must qualify for the GATE exam with the required scores. 
• MBA - Applicants must have cleared a graduation with 60% marks and 55% for SC/ST/PwD students. Applicants must qualify for the CAT exam with the required scores.
• MSc - Applicants must have cleared graduation with a 60% percentile. Applicants must qualify for the IIT JAM or GATE with the required scores.
• PhD - Applicants must have cleared a master’s degree with a 55% percentile or equivalent CGPA. Applicants must qualify for the GATE/UGC/CSIR/NET/JEST with the required scores. 

Selection process for admission 2026:-

• Students applying for admission to IIT Roorkee must qualify for the required entrance exam before registering. 
• For UG programs, B.Tech requires valid JEE Advanced scores and qualification in the JOsAA Counselling.
• For PG programs, M.Tech requires valid GATE scores and a qualification for the interview.
• For PhD programs, GATE/UGC/CSIR/NET/JEST scores are accepted.
• After the results are out, students can apply for admission and register for the program on the official website of the IIT Roorkee. 
• Students must attend the counselling session and interview for seat allocation.
• The final list will be out, and the qualified students will be informed by the admission office.
• Students can complete the admission process by paying the academic fee.
