National Institute of Technology Patna Admission 2026: Process, Eligibility & Selection Criteria

To get admission in NIT Patna, students are required to fulfil some eligibility criteria, which are mentioned below:

B.Tech (4 years): Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with at least 75% aggregate marks. Must have appeared in JEE Main.

For B.Arch (5 years): Passed 10+2 with Mathematics asa  compulsory subject with at least 50% aggregate marks. Valid score in JEE Main Paper-2 (B.Arch).

For M.Tech (2 years): Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in relevant discipline with minimum 60% marks. Valid GATE score required.

For MBA (2 years): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/10. Valid score in CAT/CMAT required.

For M.Sc (2 years): Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in relevant major subjects with minimum 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/10. Valid IIT JAM score required.

For M.Plan (2 years): Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (Architecture/Planning/Engineering) with minimum 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/10. Valid GATE score required.

For PhD: Master’s degree in relevant discipline with minimum 60% marks or CGPA 6.5/10. GATE/NET/JRF or institute entrance test required.

Selection Criteria: Entrance Exam+Counselling/PI

Accepted Exams: JEE Main (B.Tech/B.Arch), GATE (M.Tech), IIT JAM (M.Sc), CAT/CMAT (MBA)

How to Apply:

• Appear for the relevant national entrance exam.
• Register on the respective centralised counselling portal.
• Log in to the portal, fillin your preferred programs and select NIT Patna as one of the choices.
• Participate in all counselling rounds, including special rounds if seats remain vacant.
• Accept the allotted seat and pay the seat acceptance fee online.
• After seat allotment, go to the NIT Patna admission portal at nitp.ac.in/admissions, log in with the allotted credentials, and complete online registration.
• Fill in personal and academic details, upload scanned documents, and pay the admission fee online.
• Download the provisional admission letter.
• Report to the institute on the scheduled date with original documents for verification, hostel allotment, medical check-up, and final fee payment if required.
