Symbiosis Medical College for Women Pune Scholarships: Eligibility & Scholarship Amount 2026

Symbiosis Medical College for Women (SMCW), Pune, a private deemed university college, offers targeted financial support primarily through merit-based scholarships to promote women's education in medicine. The flagship program is the Dr. Anandi Gopal Scholarship Scheme, named after India's first female doctor, Dr. Anandibai Gopalrao Joshi.

Dr. Anandi Gopal Scholarship Scheme (Revised and effective from Academic Year 2024-25 onward, as per SIU Notification No. 1425 dated 23 February 2024):

• Objective: To empower women and increase the number of female doctors in India by supporting meritorious female students.

• Number of Scholarships: 5 per year (top 5 female candidates based on NEET UG merit list).

• Eligibility:

  • Female Indian nationals only (not applicable to NRI/PIO/OCI card holders or foreign nationals).

  • Must qualify through NEET UG, secure allotment, and get admitted to the MBBS program at SMCW.

  • Awarded purely on merit (highest NEET ranks among admitted female students).

• Benefits:

  • 100% waiver of academic/tuition fees for the entire MBBS program (all 4.5 years + phases: I MBBS, II MBBS, III MBBS Part I & II).

  • Fees paid during admission are retained as a deposit by the college and refunded after successful course completion (including internship).

• Conditions and Continuation:

  • Scholarship awarded post-admission completion; continued annually based on review by the Dean (attendance, academic progress, passing university exams).

  • If a scholar fails a university exam or fails to maintain required attendance, the scholarship terminates.

  • Post-MBBS and internship completion, the scholar is expected to serve SMCW for at least 1 year (mandatory service obligation).

  • Failure to complete the 1-year service requires refund of the entire scholarship amount to the university.
