Assam Engineering College Guwahati Admission 2026: Process, Eligibility & Selection Criteria

AEC offers admissions mainly through entrance exams. For B.Tech/B.E. (most popular, 420+ seats across 8 branches), admission is primarily based on the Assam Common Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU). Some seats may consider JEE Main scores, especially for candidates outside Assam.

Entrance Examinations:- 

• For M.Tech: Based on GATE scores or departmental entrance test (applications invited separately, in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical).
• For MCA: Through entrance exam or merit.
• For Ph.D.: As per university/departmental guidelines.

Eligibility for B.Tech:

• Indian citizen and permanent resident of Assam (for state quota).
• Passed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
• Minimum marks as per CEE norms (typically 50% aggregate in PCM for general, relaxations for reserved categories).
• Age: Usually 17-21 years (relaxations for SC/ST).

Application and Selection Steps:

• Register and apply for Assam CEE online at astu.ac.in (application usually opens in February, exam in April/May).
• Appear for CEE (120 MCQs on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics).
• Qualify and get a rank in CEE merit list.
• Participate in centralised counselling by Directorate of Technical Education, Assam (online registration, choice filling for colleges/branches, document upload, seat allotment rounds).
• If allotted AEC, report to the college for document verification, fee payment, and provisional admission (fill Form A, submit originals like HS marksheet, CEE scorecard, domicile certificate, category proof if applicable).
• Lateral entry (for diploma holders) through JLEE exam.
