Chennai Institute of Technology Chennai Admission 2026: Process, Eligibility & Selection Criteria

To get admission in CIT Chennai, students need to fulfill eligibility criteria as given below:

• For B.E./B.Tech: Students must have passed 10+2 from a recognised board with physics, Maths, and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. Minimum aggregate marks must be 45%.

• For M.E/M.Tech: Students must have a relevant degree from a recognised university with minimum 50% aggregate marks. 

Selection Criteria: Entrance Test 

Accepted Exams: TNEA, GATE/TANCET

How to Apply for admissions:

• Ensure you meet the PCM criteria above. Gather originals and copies of 10th/12th marksheets, community certificate (if reserved), nativity certificate (if required), etc.

• Visit the official TNEA portal when registration opens. Create an account, fill personal and academic details, and pay the registration fee

• Upload scanned copies of required certificates. Complete payment online.

• Attend online/offline verification at a Tamil Nadu Facilitation Centre (TFC) or through document upload verification as per TNEA schedule.

• After verification, TNEA releases a random number and publishes the rank list based on normalized PCM marks (out of 200).

• Log in to the portal, fill preferences for colleges and branches. Lock choices before the deadline.

• Participate in multiple counseling rounds. Check allotment results round wise. If allotted CIT, confirm the seat by paying the tuition fee online to freeze it.

• Download the allotment letter and report to the CIT campus on the specified date with all original documents. Complete verification, pay remaining fees, and enroll.
