Institute of Medical Sciences- BHU Admission Process

Admission process at the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), Banaras Hindu University is entirely entrance-based and centralized, ensuring transparency and merit-based selection. For undergraduate medical courses like MBBS, candidates must qualify NEET UG, while postgraduate admissions (MD/MS) require NEET PG scores. 

  • Step 1: Qualify Entrance Exam
    Candidates must qualify NEET UG for MBBS or NEET PG for MD/MS courses with the required cutoff percentile.

  • Step 2: Register for Counseling
    After results, candidates need to register for MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) counseling under the All India Quota (AIQ).

  • Step 3: Choice Filling & Locking
    Select Banaras Hindu University – IMS BHU as a preferred college and lock choices before the deadline.

  • Step 4: Seat Allotment
    Based on NEET rank, category, and preferences, seats are allotted in multiple counseling rounds.

  • Step 5: Download Allotment Letter
    Once allotted, download the provisional seat allotment letter from the MCC portal.

  • Step 6: Reporting to Institute
    Visit IMS BHU in Varanasi with original documents for verification.

  • Step 7: Document Verification
    Submit required documents such as NEET scorecard, admit card, 10th & 12th mark sheets, ID proof, caste certificate (if applicable), and passport-size photographs.

  • Step 8: Fee Payment & Admission Confirmation
    Pay the admission fee to confirm the seat and complete enrollment.
