Madras School of Economics offers M.A., PG Diploma, and PhD. The top flagship programmes are MA Financial Economics, MA Applied Quantitative Finance, and MA Actuarial Economics. The admissions are merit-based and entrance-based to this Institute. Some of the accepted exams for its regular programs are CUET-PG, CAT, XAT, MAT, CUET-PhD, UGC-NET, and JRF. Further, the Institute follow the Central Government reservation policy in which 15% are reserved for SC, 7.5% for ST, and 27% for OBC-NCL. Additionally, the application fee is INR 1,500. - MA Financial Economics/MA Actuarial Economics/MA Applied Quantitative Finance:- Student must have a bachelor’s degree in social science (commerce or management), engineering, or sciences with 55% aggregate marks. Further, 50% for OBC-NCL and 45% for SC/STPWD.
- MA Financial Economics:- Student must have a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, engineering, or science with 55% aggregate marks.
- PG Diploma:- Students must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% aggregate marks, and valid scores of CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT, ATMA, or GMAT are accepted.
- PhD:- Students must have a master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or an equivalent subject with 55% aggregate marks. Valid scores of CUET-PhD or UGC-NET/JRF are accepted.

- Eligibility:- Students must check the eligibility criteria before applying to the program.
- Online Application:- Students can apply online from the official website of the Institute and must pay INR 1,500 as the application fee.
- Entrance exam:- Students must qualify for entrance exams for the chosen programs, such as MA or BA: MSEET/CUET-PG, PG Diploma: CAT/XAT/MAT, and PhD: CUET-PhD/UGC-NET.
- Amidst card:- Students need to download the admit card and attend the MSEET or interview.
- Merit list:- A merit list will be published based on scores and academic performance.
- Counselling:- A counselling session will be held to which selected students must attend, complete the document verification and pay the academic fee.
