National Institute of Technology Placement Overview
NIT Calicut’s placement activities are managed by the Centre for Career Development (CCD), formerly known as the Training and Placement Cell. It was established in 1988 and serves as the central body that is responsible for skills enhancement, internships, career guidance, and placements for all UG, PG, and PhD students across engineering, architecture, management, and science programs.
CCD acts as the primary interface between students and the industry. Its main roles include connecting with talent acquisition teams from companies, consulting firms, and research organisations to secure placement and internship opportunities.
Key Activities of Placement Cell:
- It conducts regular workshops on resume building, aptitude tests, coding practice, soft skills development, communication skills, group discussions, and personal interview preparation. This includes mock interviews, one-on-one sessions, and hands-on exposure to build confidence.
- It organises guest lectures, seminars, pre-placement talks (PPTs), and industry visits. Companies introduce their profiles, job roles, and culture during these sessions.
- It facilitates summer internships (often starting from the 5th/6th semester) and mandatory projects. Many internships lead to Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs). CCD explores opportunities and coordinates with recruiters.
- It manages the entire placement process: Invites companies with Job Notification Forms (JNF), schedules drives (on-campus or virtual), handles registrations, and coordinates selection processes. Placements typically start from the 8th semester for UG students.
