Admissions at Somaiya Vidyavihar University (SVU) are designed to be transparent, structured, and programme-specific, depending on the level of study (undergraduate, postgraduate, or doctoral). The university follows a combination of merit-based selection and entrance-exam-based admission for professional courses.

Accepted entrance exams vary by course. Engineering admissions commonly consider JEE Main or MHT CET scores, while MBA admissions accept CAT, XAT, CMAT, or equivalent management entrance tests. Certain programmes may also conduct their own entrance tests or interviews for final selection. 

Eligibility Criteria:

• For undergraduate programmes such as B.Tech, BBA, B.Com, B.Sc, and BA, students must have completed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board. Most technical courses like B.Tech require a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, while commerce and arts programmes typically require 45%–50% in relevant subjects depending on the specialization. 

• For postgraduate programmes such as MBA, M.Tech, M.Sc, and MA, candidates must hold a relevant bachelor’s degree with at least 50%–60% marks from a recognized university. 

Admission Process:

• Online Registration: Candidates begin by visiting the official admission portal of Somaiya Vidyavihar University and creating a new user account using a valid email ID and mobile number.

• Filling Application Form: After registration, students must complete the application form by entering personal details, academic history, and selecting the desired programme such as engineering, management, commerce, science, or humanities.

• Uploading Documents: Applicants are required to upload scanned copies of necessary documents including academic mark sheets, entrance exam scorecards (if applicable), passport-size photograph, and identity proof.

• Application Fee Payment: Candidates must pay the non-refundable application fee through available online payment methods such as net banking, debit card, or UPI to successfully submit the form.

• Application Review & Shortlisting: The university reviews submitted applications based on eligibility criteria, academic performance, and entrance exam scores where applicable. Shortlisted candidates are then selected for the next stage.

• Entrance Test / Interview (if required): Depending on the programme, candidates may be required to appear for an entrance exam, personal interview, or counselling session conducted by the university for final evaluation.
