Scholarships and Financial Support at Stanley Medical College

Stanley Medical College is a government medical college, so the tuition fee is already very low (round  INR 4,000 –  INR 6,000 per year). This makes education highly affordable. In addition, students can avail several government and institutional scholarships.

Main Scholarships Available:

1. Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for SC/ST Students Full tuition fee waiver + financial assistance for books, hostel, and other expenses. SC/ST students from low-income families (usually income below  INR 2.5 lakh) can get almost 100% fee support from the Tamil Nadu and Central Government.

2. BC/MBC/DNC Scholarships Backwards Class, Most Backwards Class, and Denotified Communities students can avail of tuition fee concession and a monthly stipend through the Tamil Nadu Backwards Classes Welfare Department.

3. First Graduate Scholarship Students who are the first graduates in their family can get a tuition fee waiver under the Tamil Nadu Government’s First Graduate Tuition Fee Concession scheme.

4. 7.5% Government School Quota Special Support Students admitted under the 7.5% special reservation for government school students often receive full support for tuition and hostel fees from the Tamil Nadu Government.

5. Scholarships for Differently Abled Students. Financial assistance up to  INR 7,000 per year is available for students with disabilities.

6. Stanley Alumni Trust Scholarship. The Stanley Medical College Alumni Association provides merit-cum-means scholarships (around  INR 10,000 –  INR 25,000 per year) to deserving and economically weaker UG (MBBS) students.

7. Perarignar Anna Memorial Award for top-performing BC/MBC/DNC students in Class 12 who join professional courses like MBBS ( INR 3,000 per year).

8. Central Sector Scholarship Scheme Merit-based scholarship from the Government of India for economically weaker students.
