Admission to BIT Kolkata is entrance-based, and candidates must qualify either through the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) or the national-level JEE Main exam. In addition to qualifying the entrance test, applicants must have completed their 10+2 education with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one from Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, or Computer Application.

Also, The minimum eligibility criteria include securing at least 45% marks in the qualifying exam for General category candidates and 40% for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped students. Cutoff ranks for the previous year ranged between 74,437 and 1,09,099 for WBJEE.

Additionally, application process is conducted entirely online. After the entrance test results are declared, eligible candidates must register on the official BIT website and participate in the counselling process. Selection is merit-based, and the final admission is confirmed after document verification and payment of the course fee, which is approximately INR 3,47,000 for the entire B.Tech program.

Steps to Apply for Bengal Institute of Technology (BIT), Kolkata

• 1. Check Eligibility: Must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, and one optional science subject with minimum 45% aggregate (40% for reserved categories) and must appear for WBJEE or JEE Main.
• 2. Appear for Entrance Exam: Give WBJEE (preferred for West Bengal seats), or apply through JEE Main score (for management quota / non-WBJEE seats), for lateral entry, appear for JELET.
• 3. Participate in WBJEE Counselling: Register at the WBJEE counselling portal, choose “Bengal Institute of Technology (BIT)” as a preferred option and lock choices and wait for seat allotment. If allotted, download your allotment letter.
• 4. Institute-Level Admission (Direct / JEE Route): If you are applying without WBJEE counselling, follow these steps visit the official BIT website and fill out the admission enquiry form and upload required documents (10th, 12th marksheets, photo, signature, etc.). Pay the registration/admission fee if required then attend counseling at the campus for spot admission.
• 5. Document Verification: Submit following while reporting 10th & 12th marksheets, Transfer/Migration Certificate, WBJEE/JEE Main/JELET admit card + rank card, Aadhaar card, Category certificate, and Passport-size photos.
• 6. Pay Admission Fees: Pay the seat acceptance fee during WBJEE counseling or Pay the first semester fee at the college (for institute-level admission).
• 7. Final Enrollment: After fee payment and document verification, you will receive enrollment number, provisional admission slipand orientation details.
